My research for an MPhil is focused on the genetic health of captive populations of elasmobranchs. Currently, I am assessing the genetic health of the European population of undulate rays (Raja undulata) in an ex situ environment. I am also hoping to quantify the genetic health of the captive population of Largetooth sawfish (Pristis pristis). Both of these species are classified as endangered, therefore a clear understanding of their genetic health and relatedness is essential for any successful future breeding programmes.

On the whole I am interested in seeing how genetic tools can be used to assist the conservation efforts of a species.
